MSAF builds a platform to connect fundamental research and industries. The researches of NCMS mainly focuses on:

1.Meet the materials safety requirement in nuclear power, petroleum and petrochemical, oceaneering, transportation and urban infrastructure et al.

2.Introduce high-level intelligence resource on materials safety to China

3.Conduct the safety evaluation of major engineering materials/structures in multi-scales by the method combining physical experiment and simulation

4.Develop accelerated testing method and monitoring technology

5.Accumulate materials data collected from laboratory and field monitoring

6.Reveal the damage and failure mechanism of materials/components interacting with environment & load

7.Provide data base for material selection and new material development, which is critical for the reliability and long term running of infrastructures
