On September 18, 2026, the inaugural meeting of the CSTM/FC96 Technical Committee and the Materials Service Safety Technology Symposium were held in Beijing. Hosted by the National Center for Materials Service Safety (NCMS), the event drew over 50 participants from universities, research institutes, and enterprises, focusing on standards system construction and key technology exchange in materials service safety. The meeting featured an inaugural ceremony and a symposium with six expert reports covering corrosion data application, road and bridge monitoring, hydrogen pipeline safety, pavement service safety, and offshore material evaluation. As a key branch of the CSTM standardization network, FC96 will unite industry and research groups to advance core technologies, refine standards, and support the safe service development of China's major projects and facilities.
Established in 2016, CSTM is a Chinese national standardization organization focused on developing group standards for the materials and testing sectors. It is a non-profit social organization registered in Beijing, with its secretariat based at China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group (CISRI).
