Researches
Long Xin is an Assistant Research Fellow in the National Center for Materials Service Safety at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. His research areas include fretting wear, fretting corrosion, crevice corrosion, flow accelerated corrosion (FAC), the mechanical or functional behavior of alloys at all length scales down to nanostructures, and surface nanocrystallization for enhancing the resistance of wear and corrosion.
l Main Projects
- Project 1 : Beijing Natural Science Foundation (2194081), total fund 100000 RMB, 2019-2020.
- Project 2 : Project funded by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (2018M641187), total fund 50000 RMB, 2019-2020.
- Project 3 : The Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (FRF-TP-18-047A1), total fund 100000 RMB, 2019-2020.
l Main Contributions
- Macro-properties of materials such as wear volume and friction coefficient were investigated with variation of fretting parameters including mechanical aspects (hardness, slip amplitude, normal force, frequency and cycle number), environments (temperature, controlled atmosphere), and water chemistry (pH).
- Micro-properties of subsurface structure, physical and chemical changes as well as microstructural changes were investigated by Raman, AES, SEM, HRTEM and EBSD.
- Microstructure evolution from bulk material to the nanostructured layer, finally to ultrafine tribolayer has been clarified, which is the fundamental to dominate the macro-properties.
